I recently had my first foray into beeswax at the Artful Voyage to Mexico, Oct., 2009. I really liked
the small taste of it that I had and promptly purchased a DVD from Claudine Hellmuth on beeswax collage- which I like the
look of that too. My first attempt was quite simple. I will have a sample up shortly of the project I used it
on.
It was a black shadow box frame from Ikea and the back was a sturdy masonite like board. We had adhered
some collage papers to the board along with adding color with the Distress Ink Pads. After that was accomplished, we
used the stylus tool with the flat iron tip and applied the wax with that and then smoothed it out until we got a look that
we liked. After it cooled, we applied gold perfect pearls. The look was just so nice- although it is hard to tell
in the frame, since it is deep, that it was beeswax- but I loved the look of the finished product. There are some videos
online that show some cool things done with it. I just love the endless knowledge out there at our fingertips
with the internet. Remember when you would have to take a trip to the library to hopefully find out some information
on a topic.
Still, after all these years, I am still a sap for all these tools and techniques. Beeswax was something
I thought I could live without until I tried it...who knew???
Suze Weinberg's Hot Wax Art Stylus~This is from Kandi Corp in conjunction with Suze Weinberg and is
a great tool to use when incorporating beeswax into your art work. You can use it to draw and paint in beeswax.
It comes with 3 different tips - calligraphy, wire brush and flat iron. You can also add additional tips from Kandi.
It comes with a 2 year warranty, universal voltage- great for all my international customers- and an integrated on/off switch.
It also has a brush for cleaning your tips. It comes with some instructions on the box for using in conjunction with
Suze Weinberg's Melting Pot. You can also use an old small crockpot to melt your wax also.
$24.50
Melt Art Beeswax-Natural~ Since I am new to this medium I cannot offer much advice as to what
color- I think it is a matter of preference. This is the natural color and so it looks yellow. You can use the
melted beeswax to brush over canvas or paper projects, create a unique embellishment from silicone molds, altered art projects
and encaustic techniques. In the Claudine Hellmuth video I bought (from Creative Catalyst), she uses Crayola crayons
to add color to her collages. This color may add a more vintage look to your project. It comes in little pellets
packed in a plastic 3.5 oz (100g) jar.
You always want to use natural beeswax for your projects- if memory serves me correctly, candle wax just won't do and
will melt quite easily from your project. The beeswax is much more durable and stable.
$4.99
Ranger Melt Art White Beeswax~This is pure beeswax for art, collage & mixed media projects.
You can melt it using the Ranger Melting Pot or a small crock pot. The melting point is 146 degrees fahrenheit (63.3
C). You should not over heat the beeswax. You can use beeswax to coat the sides of your microscope slides and
color with pearl ex pigment powders or other similar pigment powders. I believe this white beeswax gives a more translucent
look than the yellow, but as I said, I am new to this and have not made the comparison myself as yet- this wonderful job does
keep me from the art side quite often. It comes in a 3.5 oz plastic jar.

ATTN: MAC Users & Ipod Phone Users~
For some reason Mac/Ipods & Paypal do not work well together. For some Mac &
Ipod users, the Paypal cart will dump after several things are added to the cart. I might suggest you write the
item numbers down that come up when you "add to cart". If it does dump, you can call -740-477-1238 or email your order
c_byers1@msn.com. Sorry for the inconvenience. I have notified Paypal of this problem, but so far it has not been
fixed.
~ATTENTION-Just a Little Slower NOTICE~
I had surgery on my left wrist & arm February 13th.
I will be like a one arm bandit for 6 weeks with a brace on left arm to keep it
immobile- so the going will be a little slow during that time.
Thanks so much for your patience during this time.
PLEASE make sure your Paypal ADDRESS is CORRECT before placing your order.
Thanks! It also helps to have a correct email address if I need to contact you re your order. Thanks.
